Catrice - Crispy Crimson

Het is alweer heel even geleden dat deze collectie in de winkels lag, de 'Expect the unexpected' collectie van Catrice. Maar wat zijn het geweldige lakjes! Ik bezit ze allemaal en gebruik ze regelmatig. Dit is Crispy Crimson, een prachtige rode kleur.

You see? Het leukste vind ik nog dat dit maar 1 laagje is. 1 laagje rode lak!! Als ik Bloody Mary To Go van Catrice op doe zie ik na 5 lagen nogsteeds het randje van mijn nagel.. Vooral daarom hou ik van deze lak en van de ander lakjes van Expect the Unexpected. Ze dekken allemaal in 1 laagje!
Op de foto kan je volgens mij nog wel een beetje het randje van mijn nagel zien.. maar ik klaag zeker niet over dit resultaat na 1 laagje lak! Die dag had ik trouwens mijn middelvinger bezeerd aan een kartonnen doos :'( Je kan een klein wondje zien.

Gosh - Holographic

YES! Eindelijk gevonden bij de plaatselijke kruidvat! Gosh - Holographic <3

Op de dop van het flesje staat echter 'Silver'.. Als je naar de inhoud kijkt zie je echter dat het zeker niet Gosh - Silver is!

Dit is 1 laag, op Gosh fix base coat. Hierop kan je de holo perfect aanbrengen! Ik heb de lak nu al 3 dagen op en heb wel een beetje last van tipwear.. maar dat is een stuk beter dan zonder de base coat. Dan komen er bij mij na een paar uur al flinke chips in de lak..

Prachtige kleuren heeft deze holo! De eerste keer dat ik heb op deed kon ik mijn ogen er letterlijk niet vanaf houden. Om de paar minuten keek ik naar mijn nagels. Op de foto's kan je alle kleuren mooi zien.

Dit is trouwens ook mijn kerst mani. Fijne kerst iedereen!

Back in town!

Santa Claus is coming to town!!! Dat zingt die mevrouw op sky radio weer de hele tijd. Het is weer bijna zover, Kerst! Wat hebben we daar weer lang op moeten wachten. Overal lichtjes, versierde bomen. Ik word er zo hebberig van..

Ik heb alleen niets wat met kerst te maken heeft voor jullie, maar van Sinterklaas! Ja, ik ben een beetje laat.. maar ik heb sowieso al een tijdje niets laten zien hier! oei..
eigenlijk kan je deze nail art ook gewoon gebruiken voor Kerst ;)

Mijn basis kleuren waren:

Duim: Catrice - Purposely Purple
Wijsvinger: Gosh - Gold
Middelvinger: Catrice - Bloody Mary to Go
Ringvinger: Gosh - Holographic (hierover later meer!)
Pink: Catrice - Spruced Up

De strepen heb ik gemaakt met nail art stripers die ik een keer op ebay heb gekocht. Ze zijn best leuk, maar ik raad ze niemand aan! Koop gewoon gelijk goede.

Black and Gold Nailart

When I just typed the title of this article I suddenly thought of this song:



Nice song right? This is a cover by Ellie Goulding, so you could go check out the original song by Sam Sparro @ youtube.

On to the nailart. I just got a new polish, H&M - Manhunter. A great black polish. Just black is just boring to me, so I put a little Gosh - Gold over it.

And this is how it turned out. It looks a bit Lady Gaga to me. I like it!

INM out the door

The thing I hate about some polishes, is that it dries so slowly.. I don't like to sit completely still for about a half hour to let it dry completely. So, a solution had to be found! And it looks like this.

This is 'INM - Out The Door'. The bottle states that it's America's no1 top coat. Sounds pretty good! And I can say, it really is good. Most of the blogging folks use 'Seche Vite' as a quick dry topcoat. That also was my choice at first. Until I saw an article comparing Seche to INM. They said INM is easier to apply, has no shrinkage, doesn't get thick like Seche does after a while, it's cheaper but does take a little bit longer to dry.(source: http://www.blogginbeauties.nl/featured/battle-seche-vite-versus-inm-out-the-door/)
I don't own Seche Vite so I can't tell if this is true, but INM works well for me. I tested it by putting on my slowest drying polish, Gosh - Miss Grey. I put a coat of INM over this and waited for 5 minutes. Then I started to make diner! Cutting up some mushrooms and throwing them in a bowl and stuff like that.  When I was done there was only one nail with slightly damaged polish. There was a dent in it.. But, that's not bad if you consider my Gosh polishes normally still do this after an hour of drying.

Essence express dry spray

A while ago, I saw this in a kruidvat store and i just had to try it! A spray that dries your nailpolish? OMG!



The can states that it 'dries nail polish within seconds'. It's ideal for elaborate nail designs, that require more then one step of nail polish application.
We'll see about that.



When you spray this on your nails, it leaves a kind of greasy layer on your fingers. But, the polish looks and feels dry! It's sort of dry.. this spray only dries a thin layer of nail polish. After 5 minutes I went on with my normal business and I damaged the polish pretty bad. When I damaged it on purpose, I could really notice the polish isn't completely dry.



This was really easy to do. The Essence express dry spray is a really good way to make a nailart faster. But, it doesn't have the quick dry effect a special topcoat has.

Catrice - Spiced Bronze

A few days ago I found another polish from the Catrice Caramé collection. This one is called 'Spiced Bronze', a nice orange with lots of shimmer in it.
Lets see the swatch.



As you can see it's an orange color. But, in some lighting it really is bronze. I mean, when there's no light that hit's your nails.
Because I've been waiting on my new quick-dry topcoat(more about that later), I didn't feel like using my regular topcoat. And this polish started to chip at the tip of my nails after a few hours! So, use a topcoat with this one!

Catrice - Bloody Mary To Go

This is another one of my pinks and reds collection. My boyfriend got to pick out a polish for me. He chose this bright red. As if he knew I wanted a new red?!



Bloody Mary To Go is a beautiful bright red. It reminds me of the British phone boots!
In the picture I'm wearing four coats of BMTG and you can still see my nail through it. I'm guessing this is a jelly polish? I really like this polish but next time I'll wear another red under it for opacity..

Catrice - Berry Bazaar

My collection of pinks and reds is really growing lately. This one is from the special caramé collection by Catrice. I had to try it!



I had a little trouble getting a good picture of the color, but with a little help from photoshop it turned out pretty good.
Berry bazaar is pinkish red, which really reminds me of berry's! Not actual berry's, but more what you get when you mix together different kinds of berry's. Anyway, It's a nice colour!
I noticed this special edition contains less nailpolish then the regulars. This one contains 8ml, while all my other Catrice polishes contain 10ml.

Gosh - Ocean

One of my favorite brands so far is Gosh. The colours are amazing! I had high exectations for this one. In the bottle it looks like a great blue polish, with a purple shine. So, after a long time of just staring at it in the store shelfs, I finally bought it!



But what a disappointment when I put it on. It's just a blue metallic! However, the blue is really good. The finish is a bit streeky, but that's normal with metallics.



See? It's a pretty colour, but not what I expected.

About Gosh nail polish:
Gosh is easy to apply, covers in two layers with all the colours I tried so far, and stays on for about 4-5 days without chipping. The downside is drying time. Even after an hour it still damages if you hit something hard or take your pants of.

Chequered Nailart

I love all my different nail polishes! But sometimes, one just isn't enough.. At those moments, nailart is perfect! Stamping is also very nice if a basic coulor isn't enough for your liking.

Essie - Bordeaux

Since yesterday, I've been all about the reds. Mostly because I made a beautiful 'red velvet cake'. So I've been busy with red food colouring and stuff.



Yes, today is my nineteenth birthday!
Everything you see here is hand made by me. Even the roses, I'm so proud!! I can't believe how good this went, It's my first time playing with fondant.

But, on to the nail polish.



First, I like the bottle. It's really nice. It holds 15 ml of nail polish, which is a lot for such a small bottle!
The polish itself is kind of watery. But, not as much as the Barry M polishes I used before this one. Although application is easier, I still had some bubbles..



Essie - Bordeaux. Three layers with base- and topcoat.
The colour on this is really nice! It's the perfect red polish. It shouldn't have come to me any sooner or later, because it goes really well with my red velvet cake.

Barry M

In the beginning of this week, I finally received my order from ASOS! In it were my beloved Barry M and Essie polishes. I was so happy!



But that faded away a little when I started to apply Barry M - Pale lemon Yellow. The consistency of the Barry M is really thin. I'm not used to that.. so there was polish everywhere around my nails and there were a lot of bubbles..
But, I didn't give up. I tried to apply again and this time it went so much better! I wiped my brush 3 times before painting my nails. With all my other polishes, there wouldn't be any polish left on the brush. But with the Barry M it works great!
This was the result, with Base coat, three coats and NO clean up. I think I did a pretty good job..



I'm really happy with this polish! The yellow is just awesome! After reading a few other articles about yellows, I was afraid I would need a lot of layers to get a good result. But, as you can see, Pale Lemon Yellow only needs 3!
But I also had Pink Flamingo waiting to be tested. I did my right hand with this one and although I'm right-handed, I think I did really good.
This is also three coats with base coat and NO clean up.



Pink Flamingo is a bit more 'Barbie' pink IRL. Inside it looks a bit more orange.

One more thing: I really like the look of the bottle. They even remind you to use a base coat!

China Glaze - Blue Sparrow

I was really excited when I layed my hands on this China Glaze polish! It's called 'Blue Sparrow', a blue neon colour. This is my first China Glaze, so when it arrived at my home, I couldn't wait to put it on my nails!
When I put it on, I noticed it's a really thin and watery colour. It took 4 coats to get it opaque. But, it dries really quick and gives a matte effect, which I really like. However, the glitter in this polish is so much better with a shiny top coat!



But then, after a day of wearing this, it started chipping. AND HOW! Across the middle of my ring finger a stroke of polish was missing.. and at the edges it wasn't any better. Maybe this was because in my excitement I forgot the base coat. But even in my 'non base-coat using' period my polishes lasted a lot longer!
This polish is also hellish to take of bacause of the many glitters. Glittery polishes are always a bit difficult to take of your nails.

I still really adore the glitter in this polish. So I dicided to experiment with black nailpolish.



Here you can really see the matte finish of 'Blue Sparrow'. Ain't it nice?



And here I put on a top coat for a nice shine. I'm not shure wich one I like better..

It Blue My Mind

Maybe you remember, last time I bought two catrice polishes. 'Sold out Forever' was an amazing colour. But, this one may be even more amazing. You can say, it really 'blue my mind'!



'It Blue My Mind' is a mindblowing blue with a nice subtle shimmer. It's opaque in just one coat, but I'm wearing two because of the wear and the first coat had bubbles.

So far, I think Catrice polishes are great! Even more if you realize they cost just €2,99! Can't wait to try more..

Just placed an order at ASOS.com, including three new polishes. As soon as I saw they are selling Barry M nailpolish, there was no turnig back from spending some money.




What's coming:

Barry M - Pale Lemon Yellow
Yellow was on my wishlist, so why not? At ASOS, it states this colour is new. I couldn't really find a swatch via google so I'm gonna find out if it's any good.

Barry M - Pink Flamingo
I don't really like pink but it just can't be missing in my stash, right?

Sold out forever

Today, I'm feeling terrible.. I have a cold and maybe even a fever.
Also, I'm watching my uncles house now and he lives really close to the shopping center in my city. So me and my boyfriend went for a short shopping spree to catch some air. All I bought was nailpolish xD

But what a polish! I think they just refilled all the polishes because everything was there. Even "Sold out forever"!



I love this colour <3 It applies very well an covers smoothly in 2 layers. It also has a little glitter in it which gives it just a little more dept.
You can see the glitter in this picture, where the light hits my middle finger.




Also, I finally bought a base coat! And I think it really helps for a smooth result. My base coat is a smoothening coat, also from Catrice. And I bought "It blue my mind". I'm guessing you already know the brand.. I'll be trying this one really soon!

Glazed

Yes, I admit it. I'm an addict.. To what? I hear you think. Well, lets say that I'm confronted with it when I look down. and at the moment it's brown with white frosting.

haha a chocolate cupcake? I wish.. maybe later I'll make some of those.
